New Moon in Leo on Saturday

newmmmooo

That time of the month is again here, letting go of what you found in the past phase and intention setting for the new..

New moon in Leo and the Sun coming into Leo from Cancer, giving us a great space to get rid of things we bore/bare from childhood (and prior).  Having gratitude for the path up until now but creating an even more apt definition(s) for how we want to see ourselves going forwards; appreciating and going more into how we prefer to be, and how we chose to experience life.

What’s getting you excited this month?

Do what feels good

240720111008

Feel it with your body rather than think it with your mind..  The mind can manipulate to brings in fears or comparisons; but the body doesn’t lie..

Does what you’re doing feel nice with the whole of you?..

Have a great weekend

A fresh start

restart

There’s always another chance to start over, just depends on what you want to finish so you may start again..

We’ve recently got a new home so I’m enjoying starting over and leaving behind those traits which aren’t conducive to how I see my life growing..

Already this new home has had more laughs in it that the last and within a fraction of the time.  See what you want, and to take it with both hands means to let go of what isn’t a part of your present or future.  (I choose to laugh over being so serious, wish I’d cottoned onto this sooner….) hahaha

Feeling so blessed for this fresh space and perspective.  Is there anything you’d like to let go from/move on to?  No time like the present 😉

The whole truth, or only the inspirational parts?

partwhole

Being an instructor, teacher, coach or therapist puts one in a position where your clients want to listen to what you say.  Be it about how to move more freely with consciousness, how to balance your diet or, whatever the subject matter may be, it is an honor to be in such a position.  However, with this comes a responsibility to be ultra conscious about what you say, regardless whether you’re expressing opinions or facts about your chosen subject or way of living.

The question I have is how do we balance being authentic with our clients, whilst still maintaining the ability to stay up-beat and ‘positive’, even when we may feel like curling up and having a cry? (Obvs within moderation with everyone, not just clients!)

Would it be incorrect of me as a yoga instructor to share my flaws when they arise? Or as a nutritionist (in the making) to share my challenges in maintaining optimal nutritional health?  Am I being genuine with my clients if I only show them the best of me and hide the things which have made me compassionate in the first place?

What is the most important thing to share with your clients?  Is it the whole truth so they can see you’re not so different?  Or only share the ‘lighter’ side?

Everyday Learning

p

Everyday I’m feeling, is everyday I’m learning

Everyday I’m judging, is everyday I’m expanding my compassion

Everyday I’m expanding, I need to recognise What these feelings mean..

Everyday I’m feeling scared, loved, hateful, joyous, alone or connected

Everyday I’m experiencing life to the best of my intention

Make your own hemp milk

HempSeeds

Hemp is a legal, non-psychoactive* cousin of marijuana.  Some of the benefits of ingesting Hemp:

  • One of very few vegan sources of complete protein (and is easy to digest)
  • Has balanced omega 3 and omega 6 profile (very important especially if you’ve dry skin, sore joins and/or high cholesterol)
  • Contains the highest amount of essential fatty acids from a plant source
  • Seed shells are also super high in fibre

I wont go into the industrial, commercial and other such amazing benefits of it as many people are already sharing this..

If you choose to make milk from hemp seeds it’s amazingly easy, tasty (has like a nutty, yummy taste) and nutritionally balanced; no need for added sweeteners either in my opinion!

Ingredients:

  • 1 part raw, happy, hemp seeds
  • 3 parts filtered water
  • A blender/food processor to blitz it all up and a fine mesh sieve/muslin cloth

Methodology:

Put seeds in a blender (start out with max 4 Tbsp, I’ve just got covered in the mix trying to make too much!), add 1 part water and blitz for a few minutes or until the water looks really thick and creamy.  Add the rest of the water and gently blitz for a little bit longer (you can add less or more here depending on how thick you want it).

Strain the milk from the bashed up seed shells, voila!  Store the milk in a recycled jam jar if you like..

Personally, I keep my seeds and milk in the fridge to help keep them from denaturing the delicate fatty acids into something not so great, using the milk within 3 days seems to be fine, use your brain if it doesn’t seem ok!

So you’re then also left with the crazy shells pieces, keep it and use it!  Why not make the most of food?  Especially when it has a great nutritional value!  Put it into a clean jar for use in baking, adding to smoothies for extra fibre, or I like to add mine to my kefir with some other goodies as a part of breakfast.

Enjoy! 🙂 x

*There maybe a teeny tiny amount of THC present maybe but this generally isn’t enough for you to even notice it unless very sensitive to THC!

Expectancy Vs. Expectation

hmmm

Expectation:

  • a strong belief that something will happen or be the case.
  • “reality had not lived up to expectations”

Expectancy:

  • the state of thinking or hoping that something, especially something good, will happen.
  • “they waited with an air of expectancy

Did you know there was a difference between them?  I didn’t until last week!  All I was aware of was to drop your expectations of people, things, life in general.  “Don’t expect anything except animal behavior” is one of my favorites (thanks bro); so for this part of my [more] conscious journey I intended to live with limited hopes..

But, it turns out I was wrong!  Having an expectancy for something we’d prefer to happen to happen, rather than an expectation for the mathematical formula we’ve calculated for life and how it should pan out seems to be it!  One can have the hopeful feeling that anything can and may happen in your favor..

Have you ever heard of the Expectancy theory?

According to Wikipedia** it “..proposes that an individual will decide to behave or act in a certain way because they are motivated to select a specific behavior over other behaviors due to what they expect the result of that selected behavior will be.  In essence, the motivation of the behavior selection is determined by the desirability of the outcome..

..Expectancy theory is about the mental processes regarding choice, or choosing. It explains the processes that an individual undergoes to make choices..”

* As stated by the current Google definition for expectancy and expectation

What is and who was Pilates?

hundred1

Pilates, previously termed ‘Contrology’ by its founder, Joseph Pilates, is a method which combines core-conditioning with spinal alignment; strength training, especially in the deep core muscles (through the back, trunk, hips, legs and shoulder girdle) and breath awareness.  Pilates’ Contrology was designed to use the mind to control the muscles, building strength in both as the student progresses with the exercises.

Pilates’ method can be done on a simple mat, using complex machines and/or using equipment such as various balls, blocks, bands and barrels.  Each of the original 34 exercises can be broken down or built up to make it accessible to anyone; today, there are also many more functional exercises included in classes for warming up, cooling down, adapting and in my opinion, helping to have fun with achieving physical and mental fitness!

Joseph Pilates was born in Germany in 1883 or 1880 (there are a couple of different opinions about his birth, life and death), he spent his life seeming to be dedicated to attaining and assisting others with their own optimal physical health.

From my experience, the Pilates’ method today is one of the best methods for building strength in the body.  It brings optimum use and balance to the muscles, in a safe and controlled way; and due to its focus on precision and control, rather than maximum peripheral exertion it seems to work the body from the inside out.

Plank1

There are 6 fundamental principles of the Pilates method which need to be adhered to in each exercise:

  1. Breathing, each exercise is led by its own breathing pattern to make optimum use of the core muscles.
  2. Concentration, focusing the mind on which muscles are engaged for flexing or stretching; as well as having awareness about your current bodily movement and position (proprioception).
  3. Control, is needed so the right muscles are engaged at the right time and in the right way to help achieve the correct exercise and it’s alignment; whilst being mindful to not over-exert and loosing form.
  4. Core-Centring, the core region is the foundation from which all other movements move out from, essential in controlling and stabilising other parts of the body.
  5. Precision, care and attention must be given to joint and limb alignment during static postures as well as during movement.
  6. Flow, the exercises are performed with grace and fluidly, flowing out from the core and working at lesser speeds to help enforce the precision.

And if you’ve been to a couple of classes you’ll see every teacher is wonderfully different, as is every student.  To me, Pilates is one of the most accessible things we can do physically, a lot of physios also use it when assisting their patient’s rehabilitation too!

Do I do it for me, or for you?..

formeoryou

The conflict, or the reflection about doing what you need to do to fulfill yourself, whilst being conscious about the needs of others.

The ultimate internal dilemma I (and maybe you) face regularly with regards to, ‘should’ I do this because I want to or ‘should’ I do that because it’s a nice thing to do for An Other..?

Is it about love and our relationship to ourselves and others?  Power dynamics?  Or perhaps emotions, or our sexual energy and desires?  Fulfilling our right to feel certain things?  Or, is it about how we express our needs and receive the communications from others about their needs or desires?  As with everything one experiences in life, it’s all down to our perception..

Yet, with so many questions how can a decision ever be confident?

Truth being, we only do things for others if there is some kind of selfish motive in there somewhere anyway, even if this is as innocent as enjoying the warm feeling you get when you make someone else smile.  Also, if we’re not doing something which benefits us in some way; how can we 1) know it is really going to benefit An Other (only they know what’s best for them..) and 2) how will we ever get what we need?

If we fulfill ourselves does that mean we also have more energy and impetus to give when An Other asks?

Follow your heart..

Spring Plane Sailing?

plane sailing

Much plane sailing happening for you right now?  Or does the world seem to be throwing everything and more at you?!  See what you’re made of?  How strong can you be?.

All may have seemed quite quiet and as if plane sailing at Core-Focus too but, times are anything but that!

The Universe has beautifully sent me into Pilates teaching full power!  This combined with working hard at studying to add a Nutritionist qualification to my bow (in my aim to offer a well rounded and creative option for health) and gearing up for the new term which starts on Tuesday!!  I’ve not been able to catch up in my home let alone on this interweb communication!

High times; takes much focus, hard work and concentration given to each and every step and muscle movement – much like a Core-Focus class! 😉

Very excited.  Hope you can make it on Tuesday, sorry as are minimal details up for now (i.e. time, date, location) but they’re all in the cooking pot and it’s feeling pretty hot!

Love, thanks and more love to all those reading. x
