The Gift of Teaching

 Teaching

It’s such a privilege to be able to teach anyone anything; the art of sharing by example (we’re all teachers of some form or another).

My aim for teaching is to offer my perspective on how I live with regards to what has bought me the most growth and/or joy, with the simple intention to highlight things to individuals which may promote growth and inspiration in their core.  To me, teaching is an offering, an offering of what one has in their soul, something one feels is worth sharing for the benefit of others.

Trial and error is one of the biggest teachers and no one can substitute ones own internal guru; however when our internal guru may become cloudy or a bit bogged down, I’ve always been grateful for having another’s pointing me in some direction so that I may again, find my way (even if at the time my ego may have hated them for it!).

Much love and gratitude to all those who continually keep shining a light on my path and who allow me to shine a light on theirs.

Anahata Chakra

anahata1

Moving up from Manipura Chakra..

Anahata chakra, also known as the heart chakra; is located just below the sternum/breast bone.  The heart is considered to be at the centre of the body and puts out thousands of times more electromagnetic activity than the brain; you really have got to live in a cave these days to not have awareness of the heart’s connection to love and relationships (both with ourselves and others).  Anahata is associated to the element of air and thus also is related to the respiratory as well as the cardiac system; it’s representative colour is green.

The basic right of this chakra is to love and to be loved.

Some of the characteristics displayed if one is balanced in this chakra are:

  • To be loving and compassionate (to self and others)
  • Have a good immune system
  • Being peaceful and balanced
  • Empathic and altruistic

If one is working with issues in this chakra they may either have excessive of deficient energy, or both, and thus will potentially display:

Excessive energy

  • Demanding and clingy
  • Codependent and poor boundaries
  • Jealous
  • Unduly sacrificing

Deficient energy

  • Lacking empathy or excessively self-interested
  • Self-isolation, loneliness or depression
  • Withdrawn and fearing relationships
  • Judgmental, critical and/or intolerant

Due to it’s association with air and physical location in the body, good balancing activities for anahata chakra are breathing exercises or pranayama, journaling and potentially work on self-acceptance, emotional release and relationships.  Helping us to comprehend and thus open our hearts from a place which feels right, rather than feeling we “should” or “shouldn’t” love; loving where we feel works best for our journey and those we influence/are influenced by.

..Next to Vishudda Chakra..

What a weekend…. New Moon Happy Mothers Day too!

wicked

Spring has it’s way of getting things to freshen up, move along and get the party starting..

With the New Moon in Aries today, Mothers day in the UK, rounding up to my last week of full-time ‘in the system’ working, expanding my family (a brother rather than a baby, not quite ready for motherhood yet!), meeting some fabulous, intelligent and spiritual lovers, and feeling all star-struck by being in the same space as the beautiful Johnny Depp; it really is time to lay down those intentions for the next month..

What do I want to create from here?.

How can I best fulfill my life for the good and love of our universal, global consciousness?

Time to meditate as there’s no time to hesitate..  How best to let go, remembering you just gotta go with the flow..

Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.  Much love  xx

The Profit on Marriage – Kahlil Gibran

marriagelove

Love one another, but make not a bond of love:

Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other’s cup, but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread, but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each of you be alone,
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.

Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.

If you’re familiar with this poem then you’ll see the first paragraph has been omitted.  This is as my mother wrote it to me and my husband on our wedding day.  I feel the first paragraph takes a bit more to grasp and perhaps a bit too spiritual for some, but here it is below as an ode to the writer to appreciate it in full

🙂

You were born together, and together you shall be forever more.
You shall be together when the white wings of death scatter your days.
Ay, you shall be together even in the silent memory of God.
But let there be spaces in your togetherness,
And let the winds of the heavens dance between you.

Spring Awakening

spring awaken

Finally March is nearly here!  We’ve made it through the coldest times!! Now to ditch the excess eating and hibernation habits.

The time is here to reawaken the spring in your step and put your best intentions forwards and into action.

What are you hoping to achieve this year?

Unless you’ve been in a cave you’re probably aware that we’re all undergoing a massive shift right now; from living in the head into the heart, the left side of the brain easing up to the right.  Many people and places are having great shake ups to help dispel the pain and oppression we’re coming out through now.  From Fukushima to Kiev, Venezuela to Iraq; Indonesia to Syria, Snowden to Assange; London to Berlin; the dolphins, the rain forests and needless frackin’..

Now is the time we need to consult with our real selves, our nature deep down, so we can be aware of the truth of our business and can get on with doing the things which truly matter to us..

The best and only place we can start is with ourselves – Yoga, Tai Chi, Meditation (however you like to find your head space)  all help to tune into our truths; which can then take us closer to our real futures and each other.  Feel the Love in Life.

Namaste, have a sparkly day 🙂

Breaking out of my box

box2

All this rage keeps welling up inside of me;

longing, desiring, KNOWING I am to be FREE.

Drag myself out of bed, stumble into the door,

Stick on some coffee, But still I need more.

So I stretch, bend, shaking out the sleep from last night,

And all those days, months, years, decades where they’ve made us fight..

“Be better than him, do more than her.

You’re going to need more money that one can occur!”

Force feed, watching the clock;

Wanted to be mindful here and not just fill up,

Over filling, compensating,

For the love that seems to just keep hating –

Hating the job, the rat race commute,

No body to hear my major dispute.

All day sitting in that chair,

The state of my body leading me into despair..

Everyone obey, with orderly strife.

Still winding up no closer to life.

Wanting to contribute to the world, dying to help;

These tools at my finger tips but no time while playing in this hell.

The duty -doody, the job we need to have to pay each bill

Doody = the crap that just makes me unwell.

I want to contribute, I really want to help,

But I know now, this must start with myself.

What is the gift I really need to receive?

What is the thing which can only be given by me?

I feel the peace we can all achieve,

Without everyday having to grieve.

Grieve for the love that we need not deceive,

Grieve for places we hope we can see.

Tension, anger, fear and doubt;

Is this what life is really about??

I’m not buying into that sh*t anymore,

Life is EXCITING, and it’s knocking at the door!

Expanding and living, feeling the love from within.

Stop wasting, instead tasting,

The the kind of world you want your family in.

Tune in, get livin’

😉
