Sahasrara Chakra

Sahasrara

Moving up from Ajna Chakra..

Sahasrara chakra, the crown chakra, the last in our series looking at these 7 major, yogic (and Reiki) chakras.  Sahasrara meaning thousand fold and hence it’s symbolised by a 1000 petal lotus, located just above the crown of the head and is most associated organ is the Pineal gland.  It’s element goes even less tangible and is thought, thus it’s purpose is understanding and spirituality.  The colour for this chakra varies much through different sources from violet, to white or gold; but my appreciation and experience keeps me feeling it as white.  It is here that this world/perception meets with the wider universe and it is here we are able to feel that anything is possible if we choose to allow it; depending on what thoughts we feel we must hang on to also..

Balanced action in Sahasrara chakra may exhibit in a person as:

  • Intelligence, thoughtfulness and awareness
  • Being open-minded and confidence in questioning
  • Spiritual connection
  • Perceptiveness with wisdom

A deficiency in Sahasrara chakra however, can be seen as a person with:

  • Rigid belief systems
  • May have excess in lower chakras as energy is blocked from going up (e.g. greed, aggression, materialism)
  • A lack of interest or concern outside of themselves
  • Spiritually cynical

An excess in Sahasrara chakra may attribute to:

  • Spiritual addiction or head in the clouds
  • Overly intellectual, always over thinking
  • Confusion
  • Dissociation from the body/physical plane

Balancing or healing practices can be found in meditation, yoga (to either reconnect with different chakras), Reiki/Seichem, studying, becoming aware of where one may be too mentally rigid (talking therapies can help this).

I hope this might help the MASSIVE world of chakras to have a concise and tangible handle for anyone wishing to seek a little more balance in life.  If you wish to discuss the yoga course, Reiki/Seichem or other then my inbox is always open. 🙂

Much love, balance and harmony! x

  1. Very nice and interesting blog, thanks for this post…it’s been great reading this. The energy of this chakra allows us to feel the mystical oneness with everyone and everything in nature and get connected at a fundamental level.
